Motivation Monday! Quotes to Empower and Inspire-to get you through the week...

The Carpenters once lamented in a popular song, "rainy days and Mondays always get me down."
Is this true for you too?
So many folks dread Monday because it marks the beginning of a work week or a laborious "to-do" list.

But even pastor Joel Osteen allows us to know that things don't have to be this way in his best selling book, "Everyday a Friday."

As a matter fact, it's a rainy day in my neck of the woods. But, I'm determined not to let it damper my spirits. And neither should you.

You can have a perfectly lovely Monday---one that is productive, peaceful, and progressive by having the "write" thoughts and a "can-do" attitude.

With this as our goal, here are a few motivational quotes to move you forward and place you on solid footing:

"Everyone must row with the oars he has."---English Proverb

"Success follows doing what you want to do. There is no other way to be successful."
---Malcolm Forbes

"He knows not his own strength that hath not met adversity."---Ben Jonson

"I have no romantic feelings about age. Either you are interesting at any age, or you are not."---Katherine Hepburn

" I have never known any distress that an hour's reading did not relieve."---Baron De
Montesquieu

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."---Eleanor Roosevelt

"Diligence is the mother of good luck."---Benjamin Franklin

"A writer is unfair to himself when he is unable to be hard on himself."---Marianne Moore

How about you?
How do you feel about Mondays? Energized or otherwise?
How does it figure in to your writing regimen?
Do tell.

  1. Jennifer--

Since I am off for part of the summer (June and July) I probably should not open my mouth.

However, when Monday rolls around, that means my husband also rolls out of the house, and I can write. So during the summer, Monday is a good day for me.

  3. I actually get quite a bit done on Mondays, but then again I'm retire from my day job of teaching. Mondays are always the day that I try to makeup for the goals that I set the week before and didn't get around to fulfilling. I did get some writing rolling today. So, all is good.

  4. Hi there, Ricky,

Wonderful to hear from you today. Teachers typically have good structure and can work through "challenges" because they have to. So once retired, this tendency often remains in tact.

Glad to know you made progress today. Hope your week holds more of the same.

Thanks so much for taking the time to add to the mix here. :-)

  5. Mondays aren't any different than Wednesdays for me. I wake up raring to read/write/teach. But I must tell you, I can't wait for next Monday which is closer to next Friday...my last school day. I am looking forward to focusing on my writing this summer. Love the quotes.

  8. Mondays are just fine by me mostly because my kids are at an age where they love going to school. In years to come when (if?) they dread going to school, Mondays will be a battle I'll start mentally preparing for Sunday night! ;-)

I enjoyed the quotes, especially the one by Eleanor Roosevelt. If you follow Joyce Meyer, she talks about "stinkin' thinkin'," and how it can set the tone of your day. Whenever my mind takes me to past disappointments, I summon more positive, productive thoughts. Helps beat the blues any day of the week!

Have a lovely Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... ;-)

    1. Surely you jest. :-) Of course I follow Joyce Meyer! Love her sharp dressing and the many colorful anecdotes she uses about her husband when she gives her sermons. She's also funny, a lot like Joel Osteen :-)

Anyhow...I like the way you're able to channel your thoughts is a positive way to be more productive. Kudos to you! Thanks for joining the discussion.

    2. OOps, that should read "in a positive way" not "is" a positive way. Also, if you remind me later, I'd like to share the name of a great tape she makes for women about a myriad of timely topics. :-)

  9. - Interesting - you mention the word 'Writing Regimen', because I read that the word 'Regime' refers to a set of conditions, and I don't think that with Blogging I usually am inclined to write in any specific conditioned way.

Although yesterday (Monday) for my Home Business Blog, I actually did write a crispy fresh new post (about keeping a Success Journal) that's more written like 'Business Writing', (as I wrote about in a recent post on my Writing Blog)

Written with a more Merchant-like approach, delivering it in a more Conditioned way, with the aim to also actually make it benefitional for readers for a change :)

    1. It's always good to make posts "beneficial to readers". Thanks for sharing this, H.P. :-)

    2. I stick to a word with a 't' in it, with the word Benefaction :)

  10. Great quotes, Jennifer. It's been my experience that when I dread Mondays, my mind is trying to tell me something. Perhaps I don't like working with this particular client or perhaps my schedule is working against me and not for me. Whatever it is, I try to take the time to listen to myself.
