News You Can Use...

I hope you guys have been enjoying a wonderful week, wherever you reside away from the Blogosphere.

It's been a week with many ups and downs and turns for me. But, as my mom often says, "It is what it is." :-)

Okay, so let's get started with the good stuff. Here's the 4-1-1 for this weekend.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Coffeehouse for Writers starts its early registration today for September classes. If you'd like to learn how to quit your day job, or blog for bucks, or make your characters come to life, or perhaps become more social media savvy, you should definitely sign up for one of the current offerings. "There's no time like the present." Online classes range from two days to about four weeks. What makes them popular is that they're affordable and convenient. Take them from your place at your pace! The first six people to register will receive a popular "how to" writing book filled with tips on querying, marketing and social media, and tried and true methods of making more money. You'll love what's brewing at the Coffeehouse!
To register today, go to Coffeehouseforwriters.com

2. Congrats to my blogging buddy, Karen Lange over at Write Now for reaching 300 followers. This post just misses her recent give-away in celebration of this noteworthy achievement, but rest assured, she'll be having another one relatively soon. :-) Stop by and say hi!

3. Jen is in! Let me use my know-how to increase your net worth. Just in case you haven't spotted it yet, I now offer a new service as reflected in the right-hand margin of this Blog. Here's a little background. Over the years, I've gotten numerous emails from friends, fans, aspiring writers, and followers seeking ways to earn money for their creative efforts. Sometimes assistance is sought to find new markets. Other times it may be questions regarding self-publishing, or time management tips, or copyrights. So, for those serious about their freelancing journey, I now offer one-on-one sessions by phone or Email.

Whatever it is that may have caused a temporary career "detour", I can put you on the path to success! My consultations and creative coaching sessions were designed with you in mind. With more than a decade of experience, and a wide range of publishing successes, I've been where you are. Choose a 1/2 hour session, an hour, or whatever fits your needs and your budget. Let's connect and come up with ways to take your career to the next level today.

Which leaves me with this parting question. Where are you with the "resolutions" you established for your writing this year? Are you where you should be?

Had a tough week and yet I got a short play revised. It will be given in memory of the lady who gave me the information and told me it would make a good skit Our drama ministry will present it in September in her memory.

  4. Your personality resonates; I can only imagine how upbeat you are in person. You are a wealth of information and you are so generous. About time you get paid for your consults.

I have been writing as a diversion to some sadness, and have submitted nineteen pieces in two weeks. Time to do some reading. Life is all about balance.

    Linda, Linda, Linda,

How very kind of you. Your words are very much appreciated, and come at a needed time. Sorry to learn of your sadness.

Nineteen pieces in 2 weeks? You go girl!
You're so right---"life is all about balance."

Hope you have much success with your submissions, and that things look up for you soon. You are a blessing to have as a member of my "blog family." :-)

  7. Jennifer:

I am almost done reading a book on getting published, and one piece of advice the author gives is to take online writing classes. (This particular author keeps busy moms in mind, which is one of the reasons I connect with her writing so much.)

Anyway, I had never really considered taking an online class before. However, between that author's advice and you mentioning Coffeehouse for Writers in this post, I hopped on over to the CFW site and read the course descriptions. I am one happy camper because of it.

Some of the classes offered are right up my alley, the schedules are accomodating and the prices are pleasantly affordable. Given those circumstances, you may just "see" me pulling up a chair at the Coffeehouse soon. :-)

Blessings. Scootin' over to congratulate Karen now...

    Janette,

...And how long have I been "preaching" to my readers about the merits of taking online classes...and yet you listen to her? :-)

Girl, you better get in where you fit in!lol

And what's that I hear in the background...sounds like a double-dog-dare to me!

Sign up soon. The first few students to register during early registration will receive a free how-to writing manual that I think you'll love! Good to hear from you...always.
    :-)

P.S. I would send Karen a double-dog dare, but luckily she's already with us @ the "house". :-)

  11. Great news Karen. I will second that congratulations Jen ;) I am thinking through the question you posed about where we are with our writing and if we achieved our resolutions. I would say that I think I am moving in the right direction. I really appreciate the question ... definitely something I need to keep top of mind and think through ;)
