KING RICHARD WITH WILL SMITH...
And this film continues his legacy of artistic excellence.
In terms of cinematic value, it truly delivers! Named one of the best films of 2021 by the American Film Institute.
King Richard tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams-- how they became tennis legends. Besides having a great story line and talented actors, King Richard is inspirational, well-crafted, and full of take-away value and life lessons.
LESSONS LIKE:
- The importance of having a vision for life and planning accordingly.
- The value of strong family support and traditional values.
- Not backing down in the face of adversity.
- Why balance is key to overall success.
- How to be a good sport.
- How Black folks have excelled even amid major obstacles.
Not to mention, the movie has a nice mix of drama, humor, and interesting facts about the background and challenges of these amazing women.
Additionally, it makes a great family movie or one that today's teachers can incorporate in the classroom as an instructional tool--perhaps for essay writing, pop culture studies, sociology or creative writing.
Overall, I would give King Richard **** 4 stars out of 5.
It's the feel good movie of the year.

Thanks for all these links, Jen. Will have to check them out. I recently signed up for a course on Domestika taught by Pam Neely. Looking forward to getting into that. They have some other reasonable options that look good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for the review. I'd forgotten about that film. Sounds interesting. Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

JEN,fantastic articles to explore now that I have committed to work/life balance and redecorated for biz space and creating space. I'd love seeing articles about art books if you come across such. Expressing my extreme appreciation for your continued support of writers (resulting in recent publishing opportunity).
