April Showers and Spring Updates
It's May almost.
And I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by!
Can you?
This month has been busy and bountiful.
This week for example, I have a variety of interesting projects to enjoy.
I'm proofing and editing essays for a client who's a college professor, coming up with web content and design consults, writing weekly blog posts for my gig at Bloggingpro.com (please check me out every Monday and Wednesday), doing guest posts everywhere, (one scheduled next week at Living Well for Less), and a bunch of other stuff that I'll reveal at a later date.
In the meantime and in between time, I've been enjoying weekly "movie marathons"!
It's one of my favorite kick-back-and-relax activities.
Wanna know what I watched this week?
To Sir With Love
A Warm December
Step Brothers
Derailed
Julia Child on French Cooking
Pink Panther 2
Have you seen any of these?
I'm also noticing a lot of movies where writers and authors serve as the main character, or as an important key player in the story's development and treatment.
Why do you suppose that is?
Are we as writers exciting? Weird? Fun to poke fun at? What do you suppose?
If your life could be captured by the title of a book or movie what would it be called?
Just curious...

ReplyDeleteshine on!
Clara.
Thanks, girl.
ReplyDeleteLet me know your favorites or new "must-sees". I'm always looking for some to share with my mom as well!
Hi Jen,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the new look and congrats on your writing gigs!
To Sir With Love is my favorite movie - love the 60s music and Mr. Poitier! I just received 12 Angry Men (starring Henry Fonda) from Swap A DVD this week - another winning film.
Thanks for the blog "love". I hope your readers will hop over on Monday and read your upcoming post on Live Well For Less.
Thanks, Nikola.
ReplyDeleteI love Sidney; he's the whole package. Word!
I've seen 12 Angry Men--it won't disappoint.
I appreciate your thoughts here today.
Thanks for connecting.
Good question! I find (literary) writers to be incredibly creative, mysterious types. In movies, their lives are anything but mysterious. Yet, they tend to be portrayed as inwardly vulnerable and outwardly strong.
ReplyDeleteIn the movies where the "main character is a writer" group, I personally like "Something's Gotta Give" and "Adaptation." And "Love Actually," a film in which one of the handful of main characters is a writer. There are a few more that I can picture in my mind but can't recall titles right now.
It brings to mind that old question - do movies influence society, or does society influence the silver screen?
Wasn't Step Brothers awesome?
ReplyDeleteTia,
ReplyDeleteGood observations. I loved Something's Gotta Give. In fact, anything with Keaton is bound to be a winner. And Keanu Reeves is a dreamboat.
I've not seen the other 2 flicks, but will make a note to try to put them on my next viewing list.
I think that it works both ways--movies influence society, and sometimes society influences movies.
Thanks for your thoughts.
MISSED PERIODS,
ReplyDeleteOMG! Step Brothers was so funny I laughed until I cried! Are you kidding me? I've watched it 4x to date. It was hilarious! Any others like that you can recommend?
Send my way. :-)
I forgot folks,
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend "Across the Hall" with Brittany Murphy and (Danny Pino?).
It's a nail biter that will keep you engaged and enraged as the plot develops.
