Women's History Month Feature* The Inspirational Poet

Meet Madeline Morgan.

An inspirational poet who cultivated the art of rhyming words as a young child. She recalls that her mother often read to her the books of Dr. Seuss and recited nursery rhymes.

Madeline soon became captivated by the smooth rhythmic, rhyming lyrics of Smokey Robinson, and the clever language of poet and illustrator Shel Silverstein. To her, lyrics were poetry with music and dance was poetry in motion. She loved the poetic flow of dance, writing and music. Creating poetry became one of her passions.

Madeline enjoyed telling a story that rhymed and remained conversational. Her original poems were created for special occasions and tributes, such as religious ceremonies, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, retirements, funerals, and birthdays.

Eventually, Madeline’s heart and creativity poured out into A Tiny Drop of spiritual spoken word poetry. She now writes and performs poetry, mentors, and delivers inspirational presentations. Upon her first visit to the infamous Green Mill in Chicago, the home of the original Poetry Slam, she performed A Tiny Drop and won first place.

Additionally, she has written several children's stories that impart valuable life's lessons for today's young learners.

Here's a sampling of her work, "A Tiny Drop."

I hope you'll check it out and let me know what you think in the comments section.

  1. It's great to meet Madeline. Enjoyed watching the video, and it was nice to hear her voice (I assume) narrating as well. Somehow a voice helps me better connect with someone too. :) Thanks for highlighting Madeline today, Jen!
